Allan has over 30 years of Pipe Band and Jazz Drumming experience. With learning from and being influenced by many great drummers such as John Kerr, Alex Duthart, Jimmy Agnew and Bert Barr, Allan has taught and lead the Ottawa Caledonian drum corps to multiple Drum Corps wins capping the 2024 season with 8 of 8 drum corps and mid section wins including the North American championships at Maxville.

Allan started his pipe band career playing in The Ogilvie Pipe Band and has also played for the Sons of Scotland, CFB Ottawa Pipes and Drums, Ottawa Police Service Pipe Band, Ottawa Highlanders  and the 78th Fraser Highlanders Ottawa Pipes and Drums. After taking a brief break, Allan currently serves as the Lead tip and instructor for The Ottawa Caledonian Pipes and Drums. He is a civilian drumming instructor for Cadets Canada and involved in many regional cadet music functions.

Allan has two children who are also both avid drummers and percussionists.
